Schönau am Königssee

Schönau am Königsee is a municipality in the district of Berchtesgadener Land in the German state of Bavaria. It is located at the northern end of the Königssee lake. The present-day commune was formed in 1978 by the merger of the former Schönau and Königssee municipalities.

Due to its picturesque setting Schönau largely depends on tourism.

The town Schoenau a. Koenigssee is the largest tourist region in the valley and around Berchtesgaden and extends from 600 m to 2,713 m above sea level.
