The Königssee is a natural lake in the extreme southeast Berchtesgadener Land district of the German state of Bavaria, near the Austrian border. Most of the lake is within the Berchtesgaden National Park.
This little patch of paradise has attracted artists for about two centuries: a tiny bay at the northeastern tip of the lake is still called "painters' corner", from which yesterday's and today's painters have immortalized this enchanting view of the "King's Lake".

The Hintersee near Ramsau is 18 m deep at its deepest point. Due to smaller inflows of fresh mountain spring water, it has a maximum water temperature of 16 degrees Celsius even in the summer months. So it is only suitable to a limited extent for bathing. It is only about 4 km away from the guest house.

If you hike through the "magic forest" to reach it, you will be enchanted by the landscape even before you are at the lake: It is beautifully embedded in the mountains and is a relaxation for the eyes and the soul. In winter you can go skiing and tobogganing here, in summer - hiking.

Like a green jewel, tucked away in a nature protection area, lies the crystal clear mountain lake of Thumsee.In summer a popular swimming lake and in winter a favorite spot for ice skating and ice curling - Thumsee lake is an idyllic recreational area throughout the whole year for visitors and locals alike.

It is about a kilometer long and 20 meters deep. Because of the depth, it is also used for diving.

To get to the beautiful Lake Obersee you need to take the boat to Salet-Obersee. From there the trail will lead you right to Lake Obersee. This lake is less overcrowded than the Lake Königssee and is flanked by high cliffs on three sides which make it a picturesque landscape.

Not far from Salzburg, in the Berchtesgadener Land you will find two beautiful mountain lakes located a two hours hike from the city center of the city Berchtesgaden.
